Welcome to the Community Supported Arts home page.
What is "CSArts"?
CSArts is a creative way to structure the relationship between an artist and people who support that artist and/or enjoy that person’s work. The CSArts approach, pioneered by Bryan Moyer Suderman and adapted from the “Community Supported Agriculture” model, enables people to support an artist whose work and life they believe in, and enables an artist to share their work regularly - and directly - with those who are interested.
The way it works is simple. Members pay an annual fee (or give an annual donation), and receive “deliveries” of art (songs in a CSM, images or physical artwok in a CSA), along with thoughts and reflections and anything else that an artist might include, at regular intervals throughout the year.
There are, of course, many variations on how this works - no two “CSArts” initiatives are the same. From this page you can link to a CSA (Community Supported Art) and two CSMs (Community Supported Music), and we look forward to expanding the circle. (Can CSPoetry, CSStories, CSDrama, CSVideo be far behind?)
We invite you to have a look at the CSArts initiatives below, browse the links for more information, and contact us with any questions or ideas.
Bryan Moyer Suderman's CSM:
Bryan Moyer Suderman has a knack for writing songs for all ages that are deeply scriptural, musically memorable, and readily singable. Bryan's CSM has been up and running since 2006, making quarterly "deliveries" of new "songs of faith for small and tall," along with a package of resources including lyrics, chords, music notation, reflections and activity ideas.
Christa Reuel's CSA:
Visual artist Christa Reuel's CSA is a great way to connect with and support this emerging artist. Christa creates acrylic, mixed media, collage and installation works with abstract expressionist sensibilities. Members will receive 4 shipments of new images a year. Depending on the type of membership, those shipments are electronic or actual, physical artworks.
Jonathan Reuel's CSM:
Singer/songwriter Reuel, recording as JRL and Sonchild, creates new music rooted in folk rock. Members of Jonathan's CSM will receive 4 shipments per year, each including 3-5 songs along with lyrics, chords, reflections about the songwriting process and suggestions for listening and use.
